To me, Blazer has always been synonymous with an inexpensive off-road platform; from the early K5 full-size Blazers to the S10 midsize Blazers, both had available two range transfer cases and at least a solid rear axle. The 1989 S10 is the only GM vehicle I’ve ever owned to date – it was a great little truck until the transmission died. However, this newly revealed Blazer is nothing like its predecessors.
2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS
With a standard 2.5L 4 cylinder and an optional 305hp 3.6L V6; the Blazer is rated to tow the same as Jeep’s KL Cherokee (both are rated to tow 4,500lbs; but the Jeep does so with a 272 hp 3.2L V6). This new Blazer will not compete with the Cherokee Trailhawk off road; despite neither having solid axles, the Cherokee retains a gear reduced low range 4WD system, the Blazer is AWD at best.

The Blazer will come with optional LED lighting front and rear (standard on higher end models).
Traction Select is standard on all models and allows the driver to make real-time adjustments to the vehicle’s driving mode to account for varying road conditions. On AWD models, it also allows the system to be completely disconnected from the rear axle, meaning drivers can opt to have their vehicle operate in FWD when AWD capability is not necessary. 
The new Blazer also offers a Chevrolet-first Cargo Management System, standard on RS and Premier models. It features a rail system and cargo fence to help secure smaller items by dividing the cargo area.
The new Blazer will hit Chevrolet dealers in early 2019; pricing has not yet been revealed.
