The XV is the non-US version of the Crosstrek; which debuted as the XV Crosstrek in the US in 2012 as a 2013 model. Subaru will officially debut the new US spec Crosstrek next month at the New York International Auto Show.
Taking its styling queues from the redesigned 2017 Impreza 5-door, the Crosstrek follows the previous MO of adding black cladding and increasing the ride height for a more “off-road” version.
The manual 5-speedtransmission option was dropped for the new model, making the only powertrain option the 2.0L Boxer engine paired to Subaru’s CVT automatic. The upside is that X-mode has finally trickled down to Subaru’s smallest adventure mobile.
In addition to X-mode the new XV now comes standard with Subaru’s EyeSight accident avoidance system.
Looking forward to seeing the US version in New York next month, although the only change will likely be the badging on the back.
