It was teased many months ago that the current JK Wrangler and the forthcoming JL Wrangler would in fact overlap both as 2018 model year vehicles; that has now been confirmed with the spec announcement for the 2018 JK Wrangler. Since the JL is set to debut this November as a 4 door only my guess is that the 2 door and 4 door JK will continue to be produced into 2018 until the JL plant is completely up and opperational. At that point, the capacity still making JKs will switch over to start making the JT Scrambler pickup for the 2019 model year.
Jeep has a few special items in store for the final run of arguably the most popular Jeep Wrangler ever; including special “Wrangler JK” badging on the front fender of each vehicle.
Jeep will also be continuing a few special editions for 2018 including the Freedom Edition and Willys Wheeler – both will now be available with the Tru-Lok® Locking Rear Differential.
Two new special editions will make their way for 2018; the JK Golden Eagle and JK Alltitude Edition.
The Golden Eagle includes the all new premium tan soft top, available tan half doors, Golden Eagle center and side hood decals, body-color grille and fender flares with Low Gloss Bronze throats, headlamp rings and Jeep badging, steel front and rear bumpers with bronze tow hooks, heavy duty rock rails with matching black tail lamp guards and fuel fill door, 17-inch low gloss bronze wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich KO2 tires, Golden Eagle logo on front seat, titanium-painted bezels, vent rings and door handles all with silver bolt heads, Light Bronze accent stitching on the McKinley vinyl wrapped front door armrests, console lid, black leather wrapped steering wheel, and Black cloth seats. This is the first time the Golden Eagle name will appear on the JK, however it was a special edition on the 2006b TJ Wrangler, and of course on the CJ5 and CJ7.
The Alltitude Edition which includes body-color grille with high gloss black throats, head lamp rings, front and rear bumper appliques, Jeep badge and 18-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler tires, standard body color hard tops, power bulge hood, black tail lamp guards and fuel fill door, standard black leather seats with Diesel Gray accent stitching leather-wrapped steering wheel with liquid titanium-painted spokes and diesel gray stitching, liquid titanium finish vent rings, door and instrument panel grab handles with black bolt heads.
